RABBIT CLASSES

The Rabbit Classes will be held on Friday evening, September 11, with registration at 6:30 p.m. and classes beginning immediately following.  Please make sure you and your rabbit are ready to go into the ring at this time.  Registration and the show will take place on the outside stage if the weather is good, if not, in the old 4-H building.

 

TURKEY CLASSES

The turkey classes will begin at 7:00 p.m. in.  Turkeys should be on the grounds no later than 6:30 p.m. for weigh-in.  The top seven turkeys will be auctioned off  immediately following the Official Opening.  (Please note:  there will be no re-auctioning of turkeys.)

 

SUNFLOWER COMPETITION

4-H members of all ages are invited to grow sunflowers.  Sunflowers can be dropped off on Friday night between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.  Judging will begin at 6:45 p.m.  There will be three categories for sunflowers:

Category 1 - Biggest Sunflower (diameter)

Category 2 - Tallest Sunflower

Category 3 - Unique Sunflower

 

SCARECROW COMPETITION

4-H members of all ages are invited to create a 4 foot or taller scarecrow at home and bring it to the fair on Friday night.  Make sure you name your scarecrow.  Scarecrows can be dropped off between 6:30 and 6:45 Friday night at the fair.  Judging will take place at 6:45 p.m.

 

OLD FASHIONED BINGO

Everyone is invited to come and play a game of bingo or two.  Fun prizes will be awarded to the winners.

 

OFFICIAL OPENING

The official opening will be held in the cattle barn immediately following the Young Speakers for Agriculture Competition.  During the official opening, awards will be presented for the champions in the non-livestock classes.

 

GAMES

If you attended the 2007 Rural Youth Fair, you will remember the down on the farm games that were a big hit on the Friday evening.  These games and some new ones will be held again this year “under the lights” in the horse ring.

 

TUG-OF-WAR

Clubs are encouraged to form teams for this competition.  Members who want to form their own team or join one at the event may do so.    Tug-of-war will immediately follow the Games on Friday evening.

 

Rules and Regulations

· Any team showing misconduct or unsportsmanlike behaviour may be disqualified from competition by the judges and officials responsible for the competition

· Pull time - 3 minutes

· Pull is 10 feet, or at time, team having most rope over centre line is winner

· Maximum of 10 members per team.

· Borrowing members from other teams is allowed

· Teams must have a mix of male and female members
