The Make-up of a Club
A 4-H club must have a minimum of
five (5) members and two (2) families. Members (9-21 years old) pay an annual
membership fee to support the ongoing creation of new projects, programming
costs, insurance fees, etc. The club and district may also charge additional
fees for programs they provide.
The 4-H year extends from September 1 to August 31. Most 4-H clubs organize in
mid fall, are active through the winter months, meeting one to four times per
month, and wind up with Achievement Day in late spring/early summer. Single
project clubs usually combine business and project meetings. Multi-project
clubs usually have a monthly joint business meeting and separateproject group
meetings. In addition to project activities, clubs pland and carry out social,
recreational and community service functions.
Most clubs on PEI are multi-project,
meaning they try to offer whatever projects new members may like to take,
however clubs are limited to projects for which they can find leaders.
