MEMBERS

4-H is open to all youth on PEI, whether they are from the city, a rural community or a farm. Members must be at least 9 years old and no older than 21 (as of January 1st of the current year). Members ages 9-11 are considered Junior members, ages 12-14, Intermediate members and 15-21, Senior members.

4-H is a family affair where the entire family is welcomed and encouraged to attend social events, but children under the age of 9 cannot be a registered 4-H member, though some clubs offer a 'Cloverbud' Program, for younger children.

Members pay a small annual membership fee ($10.00 + $1.00 insurance fee), which goes to the Provincial 4-H Council to assist with any provincial events. Some clubs and districts will charge additional fees, to assist with club and district based activities.

To complete the 4-H Year, members are required to complete the following projects:

  • Communications Project
  • Agricultural Awareness Project
  • Community Project
  • Skill Building Project

On PEI, 4-H members have over 40 exciting projects from which to choose each year. They include projects such as woodworking, rocketry, photography, along with traditional projects like large and small livestock, garden, foods, crafts and sewing.

Projects for the Picking

All traditional projects have a Member’s Project Guide supplied to the members. There are also Leader Resource Manuals which are supplied to the project leader. Visit the resource page for more infomation. Some local clubs, leaders, and members develop their own projects. 4-H members can also participate in local, provincial, national and international 4-H opportunities.
